New Executive Director Begins at NBSB

​CAPT Charlotte Spires, is the new Executive Director of the National Biodefense Science Board. She was commissioned into the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS) in 1995, and has been with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 1998; most recently serving in the Office of Policy and Planning in the Office of the Commissioner. She has a D.V.M from Tuskegee Institute, an M.P.H from Johns Hopkins, and is a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. She has served the agency as an epidemiologist and policy analyst, and in clinical and public health veterinary medical roles in USPHS deployments for hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike. She began her tenure at the NBSB on June 1, 2012.
