Southern California Wildfires: November 2007

Hospital Preparedness Program

In December of 2006, the Emergency Medical Services Coordinator for the Orange County Health Care Agency used Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) funds to purchase the Mintie Technologies ECU2 Bundle with Corridor Flange and two HEPA-filtered portable Negative Air Machines. During the 2008 fires, the ECU2 System, a negative air flow system, was “adapted” to mitigate smoke entering the facility by blowing smoke away from the entrances of the Placentia-Linda Hospital. The Mintie Technologies equipment performed exceptionally well, preventing smoke from entering the Placentia-Linda Hospital during the wildfires.
