Key Accomplishments: HPP - Health Care System Readiness and Response

  • Promote health care coalitions across the country, which now include nearly 30,000 private sector health care entities, to quickly get people the care they need in a disaster.
  • Redesigned healthcare preparedness to ensure hospitals and other healthcare facilities coordinate, can continue to serve the people who rely on them, and can manage large influxes of patients.
  • Created a network that stands ready to respond to the next Ebola or highly infectious diseases outbreak with over 200 assessment hospitals, more than 75 treatment hospitals and 10 regional special pathogen treatment centers.
  • Ensure that health care providers are better prepared to care for their patients in a disaster by helping 17 types of healthcare facilities and services implement a new CMS emergency preparedness rule.
