Hurricane Ike in Texas: September 2008

Hospital Preparedness Program

During this event, the most important impact of the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) program and funds awarded to Texas has been the opportunity to create and strengthen hospital preparedness relationships and to build a level of response trust between the state, regional, and local partners. Every Texas HPP sub-state region established a regional hospital preparedness planning group and conducted a regional needs assessment.

HPP funds have allowed Texas to establish a statewide system for tracking available hospital beds, which was a critical resource during the hurricane response.
