Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity concept

CIP leads and coordinates activities of HHS operating divisions in support of the Healthcare and Public Health (HPH) Sector cybersecurity protection and resiliency, including monitoring ongoing and emerging cybersecurity threats against HPH Sector critical infrastructure, and assessing risk and impacts these threats pose to delivery of healthcare services to Americans nationwide and to the National Security of the country. CIP engages public and private sector partners to raise awareness around challenges impacting the HPH Sector, enable information sharing and collaboration among stakeholders, and support cybersecurity emergency response and recovery efforts. In partnership with government and the private sector, CIP develops work products and analyzes risk to identify best practices, share information, and respond to major HPH cybersecurity incidents.

CIP leads cybersecurity efforts across its varied partners through the Joint Cybersecurity Working Group and associated task groups, which aligns security approaches to manage threats and protect the critical infrastrucrure of HPH . Through this structure, established through the Critical Infrastructure Partnership Advisory Council (CIPAC) framework CIP mobilizes 20 government and 396 private sector partner organizations to assess risks and identify and share mitigation measures, enabling information sharing and collaboration among public sector and cross-industry private sector stakeholders to support cybersecurity emergency response, recovery, and mitigation efforts.
