The following is a text alternative description for the Kevin Yeskey: Regional Disaster Health Response System .
[Video begins with Dr. Kevin Yeskey, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, which is a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services U.S.A. Dr. Yeskey remarks were video recorded in a government building prior to his meeting with medical responders in North Carolina following Hurricane Florence.]
Kevin Yeskey, MD: The mission of ASPR is to save lives and protect Americans. And as part of that, we worry about catastrophic threats that would damage the infrastructure of healthcare systems or overwhelm healthcare systems. And we feel that a tiered multi-state, regional system is the best way to get patients the care they need in the time that they need it following a disaster.
[The video concludes.]
