During this meeting, Kristen Finne, the Director of the HHS emPOWER Program provided an overview of the emPOWER Program. Afterwards, Commander Roberto Garza, Acting Director for the Division of Recovery Operations, within ASPR’s Office of Community Mitigation and Recovery, presented on the Office’s efforts to support equitable recovery in communities impacted by disasters. Finally, Joe McCannon, a Senior Advisor for the HHS’s Office of Climate Change and Health Equity, discussed the intersection of health care, health equity, and climate change and what the Office is currently doing in that realm.
